The course “Seminars in Biodiversity” requires a total of 4 credits. Students who intend to graduate early may take either “Seminars in Biodiversity I” or “Seminars in Biodiversity II” to fulfill the credit requirement. The course content shall be jointly planned and approved by the Program Director and the student’s advisor."

➤  Course Objectives

The course aims to equip students with research, presentation, and analytical skills necessary for biodiversity studies. One of the major objectives is to enable students to prepare and present two seminar presentations during the semester: a literature review presentation and a research proposal presentation. The literature review presentation focuses on research topics, motivation, and development of research arguments, while the research proposal presentation includes literature review, hypotheses, experimental design, and expected outcomes. Another objective is to develop students’ ability to critically review published scientific work through Journal Club activities and peer discussions. Students learn how to evaluate research articles, identify strengths and weaknesses, and discuss findings scientifically with colleagues.

By participating in presentations and discussions, students develop confidence in communicating scientific information and defending research ideas.
