Population genetics
Latest Research Plan (2025-2027)
1. Mechanisms of population differentiation in Taiwan’s wildlife
Understanding the mechanisms of population differentiation in wildlife is central to explaining how biodiversity is generated and maintained, and is also crucial for conserving the evolutionary potential within species.
2. Host–pathogen interactions
Host–pathogen interactions are both shaped by and drivers of biodiversity, influencing genetic, species, and ecosystem diversity through evolutionary arms races, ecological specialization, and co-adaptation.

Latest Research Plan (2025-2027)
One strand of our team's research focuses on the socio-economic impacts of conservation practices, using econometric and causal inference methods to analyze (non-experimental) data. Some of our ongoing and planned research projects include:
1. The wildlife conservation benefits of feral animal control in Taiwan
2. Environmental conservation and bird populations in East Asia
Students interested in working with us would benefit from knowledge of, or at least a willingness to learn, causal inference methods.
